Meet Lucy
and Alan

Lucy and Alan feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the Country and wanted to share this with their guests. Alan was previously a retained firefighter at the Peterchurch Fire Station. Lucy is a self-employed bookkeeper, working with local farms. They have two grown up children, who have remained at home, not wishing to leave the area. Their son works on the farm and shears sheep for other farmers in the summer, and their daughter, Ellie, works as an agricultural journalist.

The farm keeps cattle, sheep, horses and chickens and the family also grow a small acreage of corn to feed the animals in the winter months.

Wildlife & the environment

Owls, hares, buzzards and foxes are regularly seen when travelling across the field to the cabin. Oak, Ash, Lime, Birch, Horse Chestnut, Hawthorn and Bramble can be found either within or on the boundary of the site. The local Young Farmers Club often complete a stretch of hedge-laying on the farm. This preserves the hedge, making it stronger to keep livestock in the field.

About Us

Where Nature
Meets Comfort

Sustainable outdoor retreat
Blending nature and comfort

At Kerry’s Gate Cabin, the deck faces out on a huge expanse of open space, with the horizon fringed in woodland. It’s here, with this view, and the sunset splaying dappled light over you, you’ll lie back on the loungers and toast to a stay well picked.

With the dulcet sounds of the working farm all around you, you’d never realise you’re a 26-minute drive to foodie Hereford or 20-minutes to Hay-on-Wye for book heaven. Or with all the soft rolling hills good for strolls, it’s just half hour to the summit of Crib Y Garth (The Cat’s Back) and just an hour to The Black Mountains.

This solar powered pocket of calm amongst the trees has a spacious interior and ample kitchen, in case you want to go foraging in hedgerows for ingredients (or just the bougie kind, at the local farm shops). There’s also a firepit BBQ, if you prefer your fare a little wilder.

This is exactly the spot to slow down and take it easy. There’s wifi, but you’re better off reading a book on the sofa with an incredible backdrop or peacefully piecing a jigsaw together. When night comes, either use the telescope on deck to admire the stars or use your own sleepy gaze from the outdoor copper bath.

Testimonials

Hear Their Stories

Immaculately presented with all mod-cons and so comfortable. The views are utterly stunning - like art prints or paintings! We got a warm welcome from Lucy and some delicious bread, eggs, milk and butter were provided, along with a bottle of bubbles for our wedding anniversary. We had such a peaceful and cosy time curled up on the sofa with the wood fire, reading books (some lovely ones provided about the local area), doing puzzles and listening to the radio. In the morning we watched the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder and explored Hay on Wye and The Cat's Back. It is an exceptionally beautiful part of the world!

Well connected for the road and walks and yet it feels so tranquil and isolated. Not a sound at night. It’s just a stones throw from a quiet country road which makes it perfect for walks or getting to the local pub.

What a fabulous oasis. Gorgeously appointed cabin surrounded by trees and fields. We particularly appreciated the privacy, the quietness & sense of escape- to have the chance to hear the sound of birds wings in the trees and to hear acorns fall from the trees. We were lucky to have clear skies at night so the view of the stars were amazing. Such a luxury to have a bath looking up at the green leaves and to enjoy yoga in the balcony.Appreciated the welcome basket of goodies and the helpful but not intrusive support from our host.

Kerry's Gate Cabin was the perfect little getaway. The cabin has lovely views and is expertly equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The remote location is great for unwinding, with lots of good walks and towns to visit nearby. The bird feeders next to the outdoor bath are a lovely touch. Highly recommend!
